I’ll show you your
future.

Not because I can predict the future.
But because you already expect a certain future for yourself.
And that expectation is already influencing which paths you take — and which ones you don’t.

Let’s make your future visible

When you think about your future — what do you see?

Work is changing. Relationships change. Certainties disappear. New possibilities emerge.

The decisive question isn’t only what will happen.
What matters is your own image of the future.

But there isn’t just one kind of future for you.

There is the future you fear.

What you believe is coming your way.

There is the future you have missed so far.

What you once wanted but were never able to achieve.

And there is the future you want to live.

The one you will miss again if you are unable to seize the opportunities that could take you there.

And when you look at your life today:

Is this the life you hoped for?

The future isn’t abstract. It affects your life.
Every day.

  • Will your skills still be needed?
  • Will you feel secure — or dependent?
  • Will you be able to decide how you want to live?
  • Will your relationships remain strong when your life changes?
  • Do you trust yourself to start over again?

Don’t imagine this future in general terms.

Imagine YOURSELF in it.

What will you gain — and what will you lose?

The answers aren’t somewhere out there. They’re already inside you.

You just have to read them.

You don’t need a crystal ball. Just the right questions.

The answers show you
what’s at stake for you.

01

When you think about your future — what do you see?

02

What will you gain — and what will you lose?

03

What do you think about yourself when you see that future?

What thought about yourself comes up when you see yourself in that future? That is where your personal future forecast begins.

04

What would you rather think about yourself?

What would you want to think about yourself in that future?

05

How true does that thought feel to you?

Rate for yourself how believable that thought feels.

06

If it isn’t a 7 yet: Why not?

What keeps you from believing that thought completely?

It is inside this “Why not?” that you find the boundary of what currently feels possible for your future.

You’re not simply waiting for the future.

You are already responding to it today.

What you consider likely, safe, dangerous or out of reach is already influencing your decisions.

01 / ForecastYou expect.“This is how it’s going to turn out for me.”

02 / DecisionYou decide. So you take certain paths — and not others.

03 / BehaviorYou act accordingly.Your behavior follows your expectation.

04 / ExperienceYou have corresponding experiences. What you do — and what you avoid — influences what you can experience.

05 / ConfirmationYou feel confirmed.“See? I knew it.”

You don’t just predict your future. You help bring it about.

Your forecast begins to fulfill itself.

Your fear doesn’t just tell you: Be careful. It also changes which paths still feel open to you.

Some possibilities disappear from view entirely. Others remain visible, but feel too risky, too late, unrealistic, or simply out of reach for you.

Learn something completely new?Feels too late.

Start over professionally?Feels unrealistic.

Seize a major opportunity?Feels too risky.

Make an important decision on your own?Feels too uncertain.

Take an entirely new path?Feels too dangerous.

Consider this:This is not the boundary of your future. It is the boundary of what still feels visible, reachable, or viable to you right now.

What lies beyond it?

You’ve already said what you would rather think about yourself. Imagine that thought could become true.

  • How would you act then?
  • What would become possible again?
  • What would you gain?
  • Who would you be there?
  • What do you see there?

Your body doesn’t just remember. It protects you based on what it has learned.

Past experiences leave behind emotional and bodily evaluations — somatic markers.

Something once associated with danger, loss, humiliation or helplessness can later trigger alarm again. Not because the past is happening again. But because your body has learned to close certain paths as a precaution.

This is the force behind your personal future forecast.

Somatic Code describes how experiences, bodily markers — somatic markers — evaluations and protective responses interact.

This force is powerful. It moves you in one direction — and keeps you away from another. Somatic Code makes visible why certain versions of your future feel believable while others barely seem imaginable.

01

Experiences leave marks.

Your body learns what feels safe, dangerous, allowed or risky.

02

Markers shape how you evaluate the present.

New situations are not experienced neutrally. Past experience influences how you evaluate what is happening now.

03

Evaluations shape your future.

They influence which paths feel believable, attainable — or ruled out.

If you’re shaping your own future anyway — why not make sure it becomes a great one?

What future do you want to make possible for yourself?

This isn’t about talking yourself into a better story. It’s about recognizing the limits your body still believes are necessary — and making new opportunities and goals feel reachable again.

See how change becomes possible

Make your personal future forecast visible.

The workbook takes you step by step through the exact questions you’ve just encountered.

Short. Focused. No unnecessary theory. From the future you expect today, through the barrier, to the future you genuinely want to make possible.

Inside the workbook:

  • your specific future situation
  • what you stand to gain and lose
  • your spontaneous and preferred thought about yourself
  • how true that preferred thought feels — and “Why not?”
  • your barrier, protective response and somatic markers
  • the future you want and your next real step

Make visible the future you expect today.

Then decide which future you want to make possible.

Thomas Buhl with an open, calm expression against a black background

I’m Thomas Buhl.

For more than 20 years, I have worked as a Heilpraktiker for Psychotherapy in Germany, EMDR practitioner and trauma therapist with people whose past is still shaping their present.

Again and again, the same principle becomes visible in this work: Understanding alone is often not enough. What matters is whether an old experience still carries the same emotional and bodily meaning. When that connection changes, it doesn’t only change the story about the past. A different future can begin to feel believable again.

Somatic Code grew out of this work: as a model for understanding how experiences, somatic markers and protective responses help shape the range of future possibilities we perceive for ourselves.
